FAQ's

How long are your classes?

Everyone has unique educational needs and learning styles. While some students are able to master the information and demonstrate the learned skills very quickly, other students may require extra time. Small class sizes and educators who cater to different learning styles help you master the information and skills necessary to feel confident in your abilities in the amount of time you require. For scheduling purposes, please plan on spending 2 hours in your class.

What does AED stand for?

AED stands for “automated external defibrillator.” AEDs are becoming more and more available in public areas such as shopping malls, restaurants and workplaces. The 2005 Guidelines for CPR recommends that whenever possible AEDs and CPR be used together to give the victim of sudden cardiac arrest the best possible chance of survival. Health and Safety Training will incorporate AED training into every CPR class, allowing participants to practice the skill using a special AED training device.

How old do you have to be to take “Child and Babysitting Safety?”

While we will teach any child interested in learning valuable skills to become an expert babysitter, we recommend this course for children ages 11-15. Our RN/CPR instructor has an assistant for this class – an experienced teen babysitter! Our students love hearing about real, practical stories from the babysitting trenches from our young assistant while learning how to keep their youthful charges safe! This course is a real marketing plus for budding babysitting entrepreneurs!

I’ve been CPR certified for years and it is time for my recertification. Can I challenge the exam?

Yes! You must be able to pass the written exam and demonstrate CPR to your instructor. Please tell us if you intend to challenge the exam when you register.
